Fall Prevention
The therapists at Olympic Sports & Spine are experts at evaluating the risk of falling by assessing your balance, mobility and strength. We work with patients to develop an individualized treatment plan that includes balance training and strengthening exercises.
Falls are a major public health concern. According to the CDC, more than one third of adults 65 and older fall each year in the United States, and 20% to 30% of people who fall suffer moderate to severe injuries. Falls can create lasting complications leading to greater disability than even chronic kidney disease, asthma, and Alzheimer's disease according to a 2017 Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors study.
The therapists at Olympic Sports & Spine are experts at evaluating the risk of falling by assessing your balance, mobility and strength. We work with patients to develop an individualized treatment plan that includes balance training and strengthening exercises.
These specific exercises are designed to help your body detect imbalance and rehearse strategies of “balance righting.” This enhances reaction times, helping to decrease your risk of falls. The therapist will also work with each patient to limit falling risks at home, work and in the community.
